Come in from the cold on Thursday 3 July from 5:30 pm to hear artist Roy Ananda discuss his epic sculpture 'Slow crawl into infinity' at the Samstag Museum.

On a recent visit to the Anne & Gordon Samstag Museum of Art, at UniSA, CityMag was engulfed by a forrest of timber beams jutting up out of the polished wooden floorboards of what is, quietly, our favourite museum in Adelaide.

The work, ‘Slow crawl into infinity’ is by Roy Ananda, a local artist who the Samstag’s curators believe to be at the forefront of Adelaide’s thriving contemporary arts scene. Although we’re not completely au fait with Ananda’s processed-based sculpture, we see in this particular and, indeed, site-specific commission a wonderful blurring of boundaries between ‘highbrow’ and ‘lowbrow’ art.
