CityMag style sample #01: Comfort and slouch

A new series inspired by you.

  • Words and sartorial spotting: Sharmonie Cockayne
  • Pictures: Samantha Herbut

A lot of people have inspired our new series – the CityMag Style Sample. There’s the work of Bill Cunningham, the work of Tommy Ton, The Sartorialist, and then there’s you.

Walking through the city streets, we couldn’t help but notice the subtle synchronicities of Adelaide’s collective sense of style, nor the unexpected quirks of Adelaide’s visitors.

With this week bringing a break from the harshest chills of winter, the city seems a little more relaxed and a little more comfortable, and so are our outfits. While businesswomen stay warm by layering leggings under culottes or pairing knee-high boots with thick woolen skirts, students on holidays are venturing into the city wearing their DIY cropped jumpers and slouchy denim jeans. Art is being displayed on places often ignored (like our backs), and the colour of our winter accessories are, even for men, getting brighter.
