Vinteloper tasting at Sturt Street Cellars

Friday, 10 January 2020

In the aftermath of the Adelaide Hills fires, there was much devastation wrought throughout the local wine community, with several vineyards and wineries impacted.

Punters with the means were urged to spend with the wineries who hadn’t lost their entire stock, to aid in the businesses’ rebuilding.

Throughout the ordeal, Vinteloper was active on its social media channels, with owner David Bowley broadcasting the emotional toll caused by the damage done to his Adelaide Hills property.

As news reports rolled in, David’s reaction brought into sharp focus the crushing effect the fires would have, and the painstaking road to bringing a 72-acre property back to life.

Through social media, again, in the weeks since the initial damage, the team at Vinteloper have conveyed their overwhelming gratitude for the support to date, as have other businesses in the area (many of which you can find at the Instagram account Spend With Them).

The team will also pop up this week at Sturt Street Cellars, on Friday, 10 January, for a tasting event in which 100 per cent of the takeaway bottles sales will go directly to Vinteloper.

If you’ve been meaning to spend some dosh with a fire-affected business but have yet found the opportunity to do so, stop by Sturt Street Cellars on Friday night from 4pm ’til 7pm.

You can also donate directly to the relief effort, via the charities and organisations listed in our guide to helping those affected by the South Australian bushfires.
