Adapted from the bestselling memoir of Irish-born “dog man” Martin McKenna, The Boy Who Talked to Dogs follows the story of young Martin, a 13-year-old misfit who’s bullied at school and misunderstood at home but finds solace in the bond he’s built with his German Shepherds, Major and Rex.

When Martin decides to run away from home, he is taken in by a pack of stray dogs and together they dodge trains, steal meals and fight for survival. Along the way, Martin finds himself on the road he was always meant to take.

The work was adapted by Irish playwright Amy Conroy and is a joint production of the State Theatre Company and Slingsby Theatre Company.
