The Australian Dream Adelaide premiere

Written by Walkley-award winning journalist, Stan Grant, The Australian Dream explores the story of Indigenous AFL legend Adam Goodes, the once shy country kid turned two-time Brownlow medallist.

The film uses Adam’s experience as a prism through which to tell a deeper and more powerful story about race, identity and belonging.

As was well reported throughout the ordeal, Goodes was subjected to racial abuse while playing in the national league, which spiralled into public backlash when he chose to speak out about his experience. Ultimately, the response led to his decision to retire early from the game he loved.

The film will premiere at an event hosted by Madman Entertainment, the South Australian Film Corporation in partnership with Adelaide Film Festival, held at the Capri Cinema in Goodwood at 6pm on Monday, 19 August, ahead of the film’s wider release on Thursday, 22 August.

Tickets to the preview screening are available via Eventbrite.
