Originally created in 2016 by ADT’s long-standing Artistic Director Garry Stewart in collaboration with the acclaimed tanzmainz in Germany, Objekt blurs the borders between visual arts and dance, playing with perceptions and making audiences see the human body in arresting, invigorating and, at times, confronting new ways.

Hailed by Dance Australia as “one of the most conceptually sophisticated works Stewart has made”, Objekt is a compelling contemporary dance work that explores the objectification of humans against a surrealist backdrop.

Contextualising the body as an art object, Objekt holds a timely lens up to society and asks a big question: By viewing someone else as ‘the other’, do we cease to recognise their humanity?

Adelaide audiences won’t want to miss Objekt, charged as it is with a rare urgency that is riveting to watch.

Tickets are available now from adt.org.au or BASS.
