No Fixed Address
No Fixed Address is one of South Australia’s most important bands, and some of the University of Adelaide’s most well-known alumni.
The Centre for Aboriginal Studies in Music graduates put Aboriginal issues centre-stage during the 1980s, with the wholly Indigenous band performing political reggae rock and communicating stories of life lived Down Under.
They opened for bands like The Clash and Midnight Oil, but also opened the world’s eyes to the racism occurring in Australia, with band member Ricky Harrison telling CityMag last year there wasn’t a lot of discrimination occuring back then, but when it did, “it was like this big rock falls on you.”
This week, the City of Adelaide unveiled a commissioned mural and laneway dedicated to their success.
Celebrate the band’s history by attending the No Fixed Address gig at The Gov, on Thursday, 25 March.
