The Maker and Me is The Fruitful Pursuit’s fortnightly wine club (like a book club, but better), and next up is McLaren Vale winery, Inkwell Wines.
The Maker and Me runs fortnightly on Tuesdays at Alfred’s Bar, 14 Peel Street from 6pm.
After acquiring their property in 2003, Irina Santiago-Brown and Dudley Brown worked to repair the land beneath the vines and by 2006 had eliminated inorganic fungicides and pesticides, and now implement a “biological approach.”
The result of this effort was the vines producing “smaller grapes with more intense flavours” and lower alcohol, leading to similarly intense and fresh wines, made from “long, natural ‘wild’ ferments.”
