Melbourne artist Lucas Grogan returns to Hugo Michell Gallery with his latest body of work – Red, White and Blue.

Remarks

Lucas Grogan’s Red, White and Blue is showing at Hugo Michell Gallery – 260 Portrush Road, Beulah Park – from March 17 to April 30. Opening night will take place 6pm-8pm on March 17.

Incorporating Lucas’ signature irreverent and humorous take on political and sexual themes, the exhibition includes pieces in a range of mediums from needlepoint to installation and painting and drawing.

Lucas’ work is held in the collections of the National Gallery of Australia, Artbank, Deutsche Bank, Wesfarmers, Newcastle Region Art Gallery, Ararat Regional Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of Ballarat and private collections nationally and internationally.

Red, White and Blue again demonstrates why his work has been of interest so widely, with an exploration of the themes of isolation, inclusion and cultural collisions through an autobiographical lens using only a very restrained colour palette and plentiful acerbic wit.
