In our latest print mag – issue 23, on streets and in cafés now! – CityMag brought back the gig guide in street press form.

Remarks

Laneway Festival
Friday, 8 February at Hart’s Mill, Port Adelaide
Tickets.

Click through to read our profile of the sole Adelaide band on the lineup, Wing Defence.

We also reached out to some friends in the local scene for some tips on the shows we should be attending over the summer, and both Alex Karatassa and Luke Penman – two of our most trusted music advisors – will be heading along to Laneway this year, and they reckon you should too.

The festival is happening at Hart’s Mill in Port Adelaide, right next to Yerta Bulti Port River, and features, as always, a killer lineup of the most-hyped and pre-hype acts from around the world.

Here’s what our experts had to say:

Alex Karatassa

Artist manager and festival coordinator at Five Four Entertainment.

Laneway festival is hands down my favourite day of the year. The setting at the Hart’s Mill is magic, it’s always perfect summer weather and there is something for everyone on this year’s diverse lineup.

If you’re heading along make sure check out Rex Orange County and Parquet Courts – you will not regret!

Luke Penman

Founder of Play / Pause / Play.

It’s a good sign that Australian music is in a healthy place when you can have a nationally touring festival of this size headlined by Aussie acts like Gang of Youths and Courtney Barnett.

Methyl Ethel are already proving that the brilliance of ‘Everything Isn’t Forgotten’ is no fluke, and G Flip is in the early stages of superstardom.
