France has been ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic (their count is at around 98,000 deaths), but the country’s film industry has soldiered on, producing enough work to warrant a festival.

South Australians are enjoying our relative freedom amidst the pandemic, including having our cinemas open, which means we can head out and enjoy the glut of Franco cinema being piped onto screens in our city.

“There is nowhere to show them and they don’t want to put these movies on the internet, they want to show them in a real cinema,” festival artistic director Karine Mauris told InReview.

“So this year, the selection is very good! Next year there will be more than 300 movies for selection, so it will be even more complicated.”

Films are showing at Palace Nova Eastend and Palace Nova Prospect, with a huge variety on offer. Click here to peruse all available sessions.
