It’s no secret we at CityMag are not athletic, nor sporty, nor coordinated, but because of our lack of skill we deeply admire those who are.

The touring Australian Surf Movie Festival will this weekend dock in Adelaide, showing five films shot by cinematographer Tim Bonython, spanning skilled surfers conquering waves in Ireland to Tahiti.

“I’ve spent the last four years chasing massive swell events for this year’s festival. It is an adventure that has taken me around the globe,” filmmaker Tim tells CityMag.

“In these ambiguous times, the festival promises to bring audiences to the edge of their seats – and within the world’s wildest waves – injecting viewers with a much-needed dose of awe and adrenaline.”

Due to increasing demand, not only will the festival take over the West End’s Mercury Cinema on Saturday before heading to the coast’s Glenelg Events cinema on Sunday, but a Tuesday night session at Wallis Noarlunga has been added.

This journalist watched the trailer and felt sick with nerves, so it must be good.
