1984
1984 shows at Her Majesty’s Theatre from Saturday, May 13 – Sunday, May 27. Tickets available here.
Adapting the dystopic and other-wordly classic novel by George Orwell to stage is a challenge, but this version of 1984 has been drawing wide critical acclaim since its debut in 2013.
Produced by Headlong, the Notthingham Playhouse and Almeida Theatre, the adaptation is being brought to life next week at the Adelaide Festival Centre by the State Theatre Company.
The play’s themes of invasive Government control and the surveillance state are bone-crushingly relevant in a 2017 where our computers are listening in to our conversations and President Donald Trump (!!) just fired the director of the FBI – so this re-enlivening of one of the 20th Century’s greatest novel’s is welcome.
