From Palermo to Adelaide, Miss Moody’s Pizza Bar brings Sicilian pizza with a twist to the suburbs.
A taste of Sicily in Goodwood
Pietro Polizzotto was born in the Sicilian city of Palermo and travelled all around Italy with wife Hayley before settling in his, now, home of Adelaide.

After his trip, he was inspired to bring back bits and pieces of his travels and create a pizza bar that adopted the name from Hayley’s occasional moodiness when hungry.
Opened in July, Miss Moody Pizza Bar “specialises in pizza contemporanea”, a modern style using high hydration baking techniques. This creates pizza bases that are light and airy to prevent bloating.
Pietro says Miss Moody Pizza Bar brings all the best parts of Sicily to Goodwood. While the menu has a range of options varying from cacio é pepe pasta and a surprise tiramisu flavour that changes frequently, pizzas are the most popular.
“The Margherita di Pietro featuring San Marzano tomato sauce cooked with fior di latte topped with a fresh basil reduction, and diavoletta made with San Marzano tomato sauce, mild salami, fior di lattee, olive paste, and a side of chilli honey have become our customers’ favourite,” Pietro says.

When we visited Miss Moody, the tiramisu flavour on offer was Biscoff.
Pietro says his “motivation” came from “chef Franco Pepe [who is] an Italian award-winning pizzaiolo and chef Andrea Bonci of Rome”.
“I saw the need to create unique pizzas in Adelaide,” he says.
“We do prawns and feta cheese on pizza which isn’t ideally allowed as a topping, but this is a classic concept with a twist of our own creation.
“My creation gives the best toppings on top of a light dough.”

The Creation of Adam replica
The interior choices at Miss Moody Pizza Bar were inspired by Italian art: “We have a replica of The Creation of Adam sculpture displayed [on the roof of] our pizza bar,” Pietro says.
The business also offers food-catering services.
“This is our way of bringing and spreading the European culture in Adelaide,” Pietro says.
Miss Moody Pizza Bar is located along 143A Goodwood Road and is open from Tuesday to Friday from 5pm until 10:30pm, Saturday and Sunday from 11am until 3pm then again at 5pm until 11pm.
