ACE Open emerges in 2018 with a pivotal exhibition showcasing the work of Eleven – a collective of Muslim Australian artists dealing with the influence of faith on identity in an Australian context. As Abdul Abdullah told Steve Dow of The Guardian – “I have a post-9/11 mentality.”

The multidisciplinary works are presented in various formats – from sculpture to virtual reality – and are effective in bringing the audience into the group’s common and also unique experience of being both Muslim and Australian.

ACE Open is at the cutting edge of contemporary and experimental art practice here in South Australia and this show further cements their reputation for mounting important shows at the nexus of cultural, social and artistic discourse in Australia. The timing of Waqt Al-Tagheer: Time of Change couldn’t be more perfect.
