Robert Hannaford at Art Gallery of SA

  • Image: Robert Hannaford, Self-portrait (detail), 1970, oil on board, 92.0 x 61.0 cm

Fifty years is a long time in any profession, but considering for the last 25 years portraiture artist Robert Hannaford has consistently been a finalist for the Archibald Prize (winning people’s choice three times), there’s plenty of reason for a retrospective.

Remarks

The Robert Hannaford Exhibition runs from July 2 until October 9 at the Art Gallery of South Australia, North Terrace.

Looking back on the history of one of South Australia’s most prolific artists, the Art Gallery of South Australia has collated 50 years of sketches and artworks of the people he’s met and places he’s visited – not least of whom have been former Prime Ministers Paul Keating and Bob Hawke.

For information on events during the exhibition, including a chat with the artist himself at 11am on 2 July, or the exhibition itself, check the Art Gallery of South Australia’s events page.
