Introducing Mr Goodbar

It has been a long time coming, but Mr Goodbar is finally polishing the brass fixtures ahead of opening next week.

Resting between the historic arches in what was formerly the East End Produce Market, abutting the now-fashionable Rundle Street East, Mr Goodbar is a new, “tiny” small bar in the continuing evolution of Adelaide’s boutique hospitality sector.

Remarks

Mr Goodbar
opens from Thursday, February 11 at 12 Union Street, Adelaide

Owner Goran Dedic has been through an exhaustive mediation process to get here. Pre-existing air-conditioning units caused a lot of the problem but by shifting them at least 50mm the new bar owner is pleased to tell CityMag he’s on the home stretch.

“We were one of the first applicants on the new small venue license,” says Goran. “I’ve had kids now, there’s fifty other venues… but it’s all good.”

Another Studio-Gram production, Mr Goodbar (not to be mistaken with the not very good chocolate bar) will surprise and delight with its small but eloquent ground level footprint that gives way to an uncannily spacious first floor that bridges Ebenezer Place below. Puns aside, this bar is set to raise standards

Industry veteran Owen Colin moves from Chihuahua in the WestEnd to spearhead the venue’s cocktail and service offering, leading many observers to raise an eyebrow (and a glass) to a recently resurgent EastEnd hospitality scene.
